Switchable Privacy Light Guide Plate

The Switchable Privacy Light Guide Plate is a specialized light guide plate that enhances safety, security, and privacy in modern display technology. Unlike traditional light guide plates, which are opaque and only support a single viewing angle with one backlight unit (BLU), MEMSLUX's Switchable Privacy Light Guide Plate is transparent. It allows a single LGP to perform the role of a BLU, making it possible to switch between two modes: Share mode for sharing the screen and Privacy mode for protecting privacy.

This light guide plate uses a transparent single light guide plate with a two-layer structure, unlike traditional opaque light guide plates used in the LCD industry. While conventional light guide plates rely on multiple optical films like reflectors, diffusion films, and prism films to manage light distribution, MEMSLUX’s light guide plate employs 3D micro-patterning technology to create a transparent plate with a wide viewing angle. MEMSLUX designs and manufactures light guide plates by precisely controlling light paths using 3D micro-patterns to meet specific requirements. 


For example, when traveling by plane, passengers might prefer privacy mode if they are seated next to strangers. However, if seated next to friends or family, they might want to share the screen. MEMSLUX's light guide plate allows users to switch between privacy mode and sharing mode as needed. 


Additionally, advancements in automotive display technology are leading to the development of very large displays that extend to both the driver's and passenger's seats. Passengers can enjoy various entertainment activities through the display without disturbing the driver's view, ensuring safety. When the vehicle is stopped, the display in the passenger seat can be shared with the driver.
